The 134th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) opened in Guangzhou today. It will be held in three phases from October 15 to November 4, and the online platform will be operated on a regular basis.
On the morning of October 13, the opening press conference of the 134th China Import and Export Fair was held at the Guangzhou Canton Fair Complex. Xu Bing, spokesman for the Canton Fair and deputy director of the China Foreign Trade Center, introduced the overall preparations for the current Canton Fair to the participating domestic and foreign media.
Xu Bing said that the Party Central Committee and the State Council attach great importance to the work of the Canton Fair. President Xi Jinping sent congratulatory letters to the Canton Fair twice, fully affirming the historical role of the Canton Fair and pointing out the development direction of the Canton Fair. Premier Li Qiang put forward clear requirements for the Autumn Canton Fair during his investigation in Guangdong in August this year. At present, the international environment and foreign trade situation are complex and severe. Hosting the 134th Canton Fair successfully will help showcase the innovative achievements of China's manufacturing to the world and serve the purpose of stabilizing the scale and optimizing structure of foreign trade; it will help strengthen the connection between supply and demand and promote the stability and smoothness of industrial and supply chains; it will help demonstrate China's unswerving expansion of opening up to the outside world, Promote the determination to build an open world economy and inject new momentum into world economic development.
Xu Bing introduced that this Canton Fair will expand the exhibition scale. This Canton Fair is the one with the greatest efforts to optimize and adjust the exhibition organization since the 104th session of reform. The scale reached a new high, with the total exhibition area expanded to 1.55 million square meters, an increase of 50,000 square meters compared with the previous session. The total number of booths is 74,000, nearly 4,600 more than the previous session, including 72,000 for export exhibitions and 1,550 for import exhibitions. According to non-duplicate statistics for each period and exhibition area, there were 28,533 exhibitors, 3135 more than the previous session, including 27,883 exhibitors at the export exhibition; 650 exhibitors at the import exhibition, from 43 countries and regions, including a total of "Belt and Road" National exhibitors accounted for 60%.
